Activity 2 1-18-11

List the molecular masses of carbon dioxide, oxygen, and helium. Explain how you get this from the Periodic Table.

CO2-      C-12
     O2- 16

1(12) + 2(16)=44g/mole
O2-    O2- 16

2(16)=32g/mole
He-
    He- 4

=4g/mole

H20-
     H-1
     O-16

2(1) + 16=18g/mole

On the periodic table, you first find the atomic mass. Then, you multiple the subsrctipt (# of atoms) times the atomic mass of the element and add the masses of all the elementes in the molecule to get the molecular mass.
